The Castillet: The Icon of Perpignan
The Castillet is the most famous landmark in Perpignan and a symbol of the rich Catalan heritage of the city. Built in 1368 as a fortified gateway the construction once formed part of the medieval walls protecting the city. Over the centuries the monument served as both a fortress and a prison before becoming one of most treasured historic monuments of Perpignan.

Today the Castillet is home to the Casa Pairal Museum : showcasing the traditions, تاریخ, and culture of French Catalonia. Visitors can also climb to the top for panoramic views of Perpignan and the Pyrenees.
With its striking red-brick architecture and fascinating history the Castillet remains a must-see attraction and the enduring emblem of Perpignan.
